Kirk Hammett

Kirk Hammett has wooed the Metal world with his scathing talent as a lead guitarist. Few can match his speed for soloing, nor can they meet his skill as a true leads musician. Kirk Hammett is the most famous, and successful student of the awesome Joe Satriani. Hammett blazed onto the metal scene with his awesome, lightning fast solos. Kirk didn't limit himself to just speed soloing, though, for he also showed his versatility in scales and effects such as the wah pedal. Kirk Hammett gave Metallica an edge over other Metal bands of that day, and that was that his solos weren't just about displaying talent. There were plenty of musicians that could just show off. Kirk played solos that defined the song, a talent that is rare amongst budding musicians, striving to make their mark on the music world.
What Kirk has shown me is that life as a lead guitarist is hard! I will never be able to rip into the most of the solos that he has put out, but he has shown me that some of his coolest solos are ones that aren't that fast, but just emphasize the song. One of my all-time favorite Hammett solos is the first half of the solo from The God that Failed. Besides capturing much of the emotion of the song, it is also something I can play, which gives me a little more insight into what Hammett does all the time.
