David Gilmour replaced Syd Barrett as the guitarist for Pink floyd in the late
sixties. From then on, it was pure magic. Pink Floyd, with Gilmour, were able
to do something with music that no others could do. When listening to an album
one could almost feel themselves being carried by a wave of sounds that only Pink
Floyd knew how to create. Gilmour's contribution to the group, other than help on
writing some of their most famous songs, is his soloing ability. He wasn't fast
or flashy, just damn good. Anyone can play a Gilmour solo, but no one can convey
the same emotion or style that he puts into each and every bend. From the trips
into the psychadelic and back to simple guitar chords, Gilmour has wowed listeners
for decades.

Dave Gilmour particularly caught my attention with his awesome solos. When listening
to him, I almost feel like I can hear his thoughts and emotions. His guitar speaks
when he solos, and conveys so much more than just the notes. His ability to blend his
solos in perfectly with his music is a talent beyond compare. Put in true feeling
into each every note, slide, bend, hammer-on and pull-off is the take home lesson that
I learned from Gilmour.
