Jerry Cantrell

Out from Seattle came a new wave of music in the early ninties. At the lead were such groups as Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Another band that exploded onto the Seattle seen, dubbed as "Grunge" was Alice in Chains. With Layne Staley's unique vocal style and Jerry Cantrell's powerful, crunchy music, Alice in Chains was set to gather a huge fan following.
To me, it doesn't get much better than Jerry Cantrell. He is the total package. He is the future of guitar players. Jerry has the same versatility displayed by the other greats such as Iommi and Hetfield, with a twist of his own. Jerry has incorporated many "sick" sounds into his music, using odd 5ths, wicked bends and grunge distortion. Jerry is the one-man guitar, taking care of rhythm and leads, like Gilmour, Page, and Iommi. When Cantrell solos, he has that amazing ability to take the entire song and some it up in his solo. His music is as sharp as a razor, and has the power of a locomotive gone mad, and Jerry Cantrell is the engineer behind it all.
